Dinosaur Zoos!

Dino-Roars!

We are doing a dinosaur unit to wrap up the end of the year.  We have dinosaur books, dinosaur math, donosaur writing and dinosaur art.  Today we learned about four different types of fossils.  I had some to share with the children as well.  Ask them about it!

We have finished our displays showing many of the different thins the class learned about frogs!  These posters will be on display in the gym tonight.  But, you can also see a close up shot here on the blog.  Just click on the "Frog Research" heading above and it will take you to the pictures of our posters!

Frog Research

We are wrapping up our frog research in hopes of having it to display for Expo!  The children brainstormed a long, long list of questions in the fall, and over the course of the year we have answered all but three of them!  That is amazing!

We had to look up the last three questions on Google.  We found answers for two of them, including "How high can a frog jump?"  If you want to find out, you will have to come check out our research on Expo Night!

Mystery Project Part Two

Today we painted and painted and painted some more!  We made costumes for our EXPO Night Kindergarten performance and....












we painted our Mystery Projects!  Hmmmm......

On Thursday Discovery celebrated our own Mrs. Uttke!  She is the very deserving recipient of our District's

Outstanding Educational Support Staff Award!  

 Mrs. Uttke is the glue that holds Discovery Elementary together on a daily basis!  She knows and cares for all our students by name.

Mrs. Uttke certainly models our school’s “5 C’s“ character qualities:

Care, Cooperate, Contribute, Collaborate, and Celebrate!

Domino Drama!

The class has gone Domino Crazy!  What is excellent about this activity is that it teaches:

persistence
patience
how to tolerate frustration
trial and error
working hard for success

You can't beat that as far as a toy goes!!!!

Coborns

Coborns gave us a very nice tour of their store this morning!  We got too see and learn about each department in the store.  They were given a 'treat' in each department as well... a clementine, a cupcake, cheese stick, beef bites, and gummy bears.  :)

On our way to the store we also walked downtown Buffalo and looked at the different types of stores that are available for our community.

Community Days

Today we set up the community buildings the children have been working on so hard over the past few weeks.  There was a Bank, Discovery Cafe, Post Office, a Home, Dr. Office, Coffee Shop & Book Store, Police Car and Fire Engine.  The students did an AMAziNG job of using the different centers this morning to pretend and learn.  One of the biggest discussions was about the money.  haha!
