Oh Lovely Mud!

Today is the first day of Spring.  It should be muddy out by now!  :)  We celebrated spring and urged it to come soon by playing in the 'mud' today.

One of our favorite characters in Kindergarten is Mrs. Wishy Washy.  She is compelled to wash anything that gets into the mud in her soapy tub!  Watch for updates as we add all sorts of 'creatures' that fall into the mud and need to go in Mrs. Wishy Washy's tub!

W is for Window

We read an award winning book called "The Hello/Goodbye Window.  It is a delightful story of a window at grandmas and grandpa's where you can see all the comings and goings of the family and people and pets in the neighborhood.  The child in the story even uses imagination to think who might visit?  A T-Res?  The Queen of England?

Then we planned and painted what we would like to see outside our own Hello/Goodbye Window if we had one.  While painting the children were encouraged to use different techniques with their water colors so they could get bolder and brighter colors just like in the book. The last job was to add the window frame around the outside of the painting.

What a terrific book and a fun project!

Enrichments!

Our second round of Enrichments will happen on Thursday, March 21st.  Children will sign up for different community and or service activities to participate in most of that morning.
Pink Enrichment sheet with activity descriptions and a place to mark a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

Make sure to watch for this slip to come home TODAY!  Help your child consider their choices and fill out the sheet with them.  Send it back in their envelope or backpack ASAP!

(Last Fall many of our Kindies were assigned to a group because they did not return a sheet with their preferences marked.)

Tinker Toy Tower

Some students in the class were determined this morning to build a tinker toy tower that touched the ceiling of the room.  It wasn't easy!

They tried building just one tall piece but they could not reach.  It kept crashing to the ground.

They found taller students to help.  But it kept crashing.

Then they figured out to build two tall pieces and asked me to help them put the two together!  It was about 6 inches shy of the ceiling.  They tried dismantling and adding various pieces to the top of the second tower.  Some were too tall, some were too short.

Eventually we achieve the goal by working as a team!  The next trick was to hold it long enough without Ms. Tacke to get a picture.  After many attempts, they figured that out, too!
