I didn't know how else to archive this information, so I decided to put it up as a final post for the 2011-2012 school year. Time to hop into 2012-2013 I guess!
Giraffe Measurement Activity
Things we think we know already:
They are tall.
Giraffes eat leaves and grass
They swish their tail in an emergency.
Giraffes are fast.
They are awake at night.
QUESTIONS we have:
* How tall are they? Are they taller than the Mega Playground? How many tape measurers would it take to measure each of those?
* How many leaves do they eat? How many trees in a day?
* How furry or hairy are they? Do giraffes in the zoo get their hair brushed?
* How many spots do they have?
* How long are their necks? How high up is their head?
* What would you have to stand on in order to pat their head?
* How big do their mouths open?
* How big is their footprint?
* Do zookeepers take care of the giraffe's teeth? How many teeth do they have? How sharp are their teeth? Do they bite? Do their teeth fall out like ours do when they are little?
* How wide are they when sideways?
* How long is their tongue?
* How far do they go in one step?
* Where do they go in winter? Do they hibernate?
* What do they do when they get really hot?
* Do they have babies? What do they look like?
* Where do they sleep? How do they sleep? When do they sleep?
* Where is Africa?
* How much do they weigh? What would happen if one stepped on you?
* What do they do when there is danger?
